About Gatehouse Care Home
The
Gatehouse is an independent family-owned home that provides short and long-term
residential care for the elderly.
The proprietors, Mr & Mrs
Breckon, have owned the home since 1992 and have earned an excellent
reputation locally.
Our
philosophy is to provide a homely, friendly, and compassionate environment for
all of our residents.
Our aim is Quality Care
The objectives of the home are as follows:
- To
deliver person-centred care for each resident in the manner expected, and in a
safe and pleasant environment.
- To put maximum emphasis on enabling residents to manage their own lives to the
greatest attainable extent and to make it possible for them to maintain their
dignity, independence, and their previous lifestyles.
- To encourage relatives and friends to be involved in the daily life of their
loved ones with regard to care, and social and recreational activities.
- To have the
appropriate staff available within the home to meet the needs of our residents
at all times, and to ensure that residents feel comfortable to ask for support
as and when they need it.
Where Quality Care Meets Home-Like Comfort
Our Staff
The
home is managed by Louise Fowle, the daughter of the proprietors, and Melanie
Sellers, Registered Manager. Both are committed to quality care and providing a
safe and friendly home.
We are lucky to have a long-serving team of staff, who share our commitment to
quality care. We feel it is important that all our staff demonstrate and share
our core values:
Trustworthy
| Respectful | Compassionate | Empathic | Kind | Reliable
We also ensure that
all staff are recruited safely and trained appropriately to carry out their
role within our home.
The Home & Gardens
We have 26 lovely bedrooms, one of which is a double, and all have en-suite bathrooms with the exception of one. Many rooms have their own patio doors looking out to our beautiful gardens which surround the home where there are many different places to sit and enjoy the peaceful grounds and watch nature.
We have a main communal lounge and conservatory area where our residents can meet for coffee, or participate in activities, as well as another more peaceful lounge to relax.
Activities and Enrichment
We have a fun and varied activities programme, which is designed around the
residents needs and preferences. We also welcome external providers from musicians
to professional dementia classes, as well as yoga and chair exercise sessions.
Our residents are encouraged and supported to go out to enjoy life as they
would if they were living independently wherever possible.
A
hairdresser and chiropodist visit the home regularly, and appointments can be made
to suit the resident's requirements.
